'RESTORE THE RUINS'- BE PART OF LOOKING AFTER THE IDYLLIC RUINS OF BEAUREPAIRE MEDIEVAL MANOR HOUSE.

BACKGROUND: Beaurepaire Medieval Manor House was an unloved medieval ruin near Bearpark in Durham, but since 2019, we have led a team of volunteers to transforming this unloved ruin into a well visited & loved community asset!

There are heaps of history linked to the site, and lots still to uncover. The site has lots of interesting foundations and walls still to see, and was part of the Bishopric of Durham and the constant battles between the Scots & English, including the Battle of Neville's Cross!

We NEED more volunteers to commit to looking after the site and in helping at different cultural and arts events at the site during the year!

Why not pop along to a session, get involved in gardening and caring for the site, and also enjoy finding out some more history about the site!

It is hoped that Beaurepaire will in the future become a great place for heritage skills & traditional crafts training, and hopefully archaeological excavation too, providing important vocational futures for younger generations who perhaps have been left behind by the academic learning system; helping them to realise their self worth, future and God-given potential!
