A suicide awareness and prevention training session will take place on 12 October 2026 at AV Dawson in Middlesbrough, focusing on equipping individuals with skills for difficult conversations and resource connection.
Training can empower individuals to have difficult conversations, connect individuals to resources and can ultimately save lives
Suicide figures are continuing to rise in the United Kingdom and in 2024 it was reported that 6190 people took their own life in England and Wales. Our mission at the Headlight Project is “To reduce the number of deaths by suicide in the Tees Valley through therapy of those bereaved by suicide and preventative education and training.” We work within businesse, workplaces and communities across the Tees Valley to provide free preventative training and education.
We are looking forward to delivering our session at AV Dawson and creating important conversations around suicide prevention.
The aims of the presentation are to:
introduce the charity and why we were founded
raise awareness of suicide and the alarming numbers in our region
provide information about the services offered by the Headlight Project
introduce actions for creating a suicide safer community and workplace
address myths and misconceptions that surround suicide
work with individuals to encourage open conversations about suicide and also to empower people to spot the signs
Description supplied by the event organiser.
