A practical introduction to Natural Sequence Farming contours and guided tour of the regenerative farm with Stuart Grainger and Adrian Drew.

Part of the Mornington Peninsula Agroecology workshop series, join fellow farmers for a practical introduction to agroecology & regenerative agriculture. The series brings together science and lived farming experience to help you understand how agroecological principles can be applied in your context.

This excursion will take Mornington Peninsula farmers to Lemah Park, an exemplary regenerative beef and sheep farm in the Macedon Ranges.

The day will involve an introduction to the property with farmer Stuart Grainger, followed by a farm tour led by Adrian Drew of Tarwyn Park Training, showcasing the Natural Sequence Farming contours established on site. We will also be joined by Melbourne Water’s Karen Thomas and Deakin University’s Christie Lam, as part of a discussion about Lemah Park’s many other projects.

Who is it for?

Farmers, growers, viticulturists and horticulturists who are curious about incorporating trees into a productive farm ecosystem. No prior knowledge needed—just curiosity and a desire to learn.

Logistics

This is an excursion to the Macedon Ranges and so a bus will depart the Peninsula between 8-9am in the morning, returning by approx 5pm. Joining for the bus ride is encouraged as there'll be lots of great discussions had on the way to & from. If you need to drive separately please let us know ahead of time.

A light lunch and bus snacks are included.

What you will walk away with

A clear, practical understanding of practices and principles that can be applied on your farm and a supportive network of like minded farmers to grow with. You’ll build skills in reading your landscape, improving soil biology, integrating trees and animals, and creating realistic pathways toward improved farm-systems resilience.

Participants will gain practical insights into building diversity, fertility, and resilience on-farm.

Learning Platform

Enriching the in-person element will be a digital learning platform rich with fundamental resources, further reading and suggestions for diving deeper as you progress through your learning journey.

Your facilitator

Jack Newman-Morris is an agroecology systems educator focused on working with farmers building resilient, biologically driven farming systems. He has completed advanced training with Nicole Masters’ Integrity Soils and Dr. Elaine Ingham’s Soil Food Web School. Jack facilitates practical, locally grounded learning alongside experienced regenerative practitioners.

Cost

We are fortunate to be able to offer this all-inculsive day for just $50 to cover Stuart and Adrian's time. Numbers will be capped to fit in the bus and priority will be given to attendees who participated in the other Agroecology workshops.
