Opening the Heart – The Buddhist Practice of Taking & Giving

with Guest Teacher Gen Kelsang Tubchen

Sat 14th Nov, 10am – 1pm

The practice of taking and giving is one of the most powerful methods that Buddha taught for opening our hearts and healing our mental and physical illnesses.

This ancient practice brings us mental peace, heals our mind and enhances our love, compassion, and wisdom. It can also be especially helpful in situations where we may otherwise feel powerless to directly help others.

In this course, we will learn how to use this precious meditation practice to deeply heal our own mind and improve our ability to be of real benefit to others.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Gen Kelsang Tubchen is the Resident Teacher at KMC Edinburgh. She began practising Kadampa Buddhism in Scotland over 25 years ago and was the National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition in the Nordic region from 2013 – 2018 teaching throughout the area. She then returned to Scotland and has been the Resident Teacher in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dumfries and, since 2025, in Edinburgh.

Gen Tubchen has been a dedicated, close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for many years, receiving ordination from him in 2003. An inspiring and gifted teacher, she is loved for her clear, powerful and practical teachings and her insightful retreat experience.

The course will consist of two sessions with a break for refreshments. There will be guided meditations, short talks and time for discussion and Q&A.
