Teesside Park is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a free 90s-themed birthday event.

Teesside Park is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a free 90s-themed birthday event, featuring live music, family activities, retro games and giveaways.

Taking place on Saturday 24th October, from 11am to 4pm, the event will mark 35 years since the centre first opened in 1991, with a programme of entertainment inspired by the decade.

The celebrations will centre around the Primark terrace, where local performing arts education organisation Apollo Arts will host live performances throughout the day, including a 90s-themed 'Big Sing!' featuring local schoolchildren, performances from Mike McGrother and The Infant Hercules and Stockton Globe community choirs, and live music from The Funk Collective.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy three gaming lanes featuring 90s-inspired celebrity games and a claw grab* machine with prizes including 35 LUSH Snow Fairy shower gels and vouchers for a range of the centre’s retailers.

Elsewhere, roller skating dancers will be performing around the centre throughout the day, while an oversized 90s boombox and a model of the Transporter Bridge will give visitors a designated selfie spot.

For younger visitors, there will be free face painting outside the Hello building between 11am and 1pm and 2pm and 4pm, alongside children's crafts inside, including flag, bunting and paper shopping bag making.

Food and drinks will also be available including handcrafted gourmet cheese toasties from Alamino’s, street food parmo dishes from Parm-O-Rama and cocktails from The Cocktail Box. Meanwhile, Showcase Cinema will be screening classic 90s films for all ages including the 1991 animated Beauty and the Beast at discounted prices as part of the celebrations.**

Since opening, Teesside Park has transformed into one of the region’s leading shopping and leisure destinations and became a familiar part of life for generations of people across Teesside.

To mark the milestone, Teesside Park is also launching a campaign across its social media channels, inviting people to share their favourite memories from the past 35 years, from family shopping trips and days out to first jobs and special occasions.
