Overview

This Board Governance training workshop introduces the role and responsibilities of not-for-profit board members/directors, alongside key principles of good governance.

The workshop combines practical guidance, real-world case studies and interactive discussion to help participants strengthen their understanding and confidence in their role on a Board.

Who it's for

This workshop is aimed at Kildare-based artists, creatives and arts workers, including prospective, new and existing board members, who are looking to strengthen their role and contribution on a Board.

Why it matters

Good governance is essential to the effective and responsible running of not-for-profit organisations. Understanding your responsibilities as a board member can help you contribute more confidently, support effective decision-making and strengthen relationships across the Board and organisation.

Board meetings and board papers

Reviewing the Board

Board relationships

The Charities Governance Code

What to expect

The workshop is practical and interactive, with opportunities to explore real-world case studies, discuss common governance issues and consider how good governance works in practice.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of their responsibilities as a board member and practical knowledge to support them in their role.
