About This Event

Apple afternoons - taste the produce runs on selected dates at Gibside in Newcastle. Participants can learn about heritage apple varieties, watch fresh fruit being pressed, and discover the story of the Walled Garden apples. Admission is required.

Gardeners at Gibside will demonstrate apple pressing and discuss heritage varieties grown in their Walled Garden, with fresh fruit being pressed on site for visitors to try. The afternoon includes two sessions of pressing demonstrations paired with chats about the different types of apples cultivated there.

Following each demonstration, attendees can enjoy a tasting of fresh juice made from the fruit just pressed. These juice tastings are scheduled alongside the variety talks to allow guests to experience the produce directly from the garden.
