Free practical first aid awareness session covering burns, scalds and common Bonfire Night injuries.

Bonfire Night can be great fun, but burns, scalds and firework injuries can happen very quickly.

Join AWDRNE First Aid Unit for a free, practical first aid awareness session and learn what you can do if something goes wrong.

No previous first aid knowledge is needed.

This will not be a sit-and-listen session. There will be group activities, demonstrations and practical exercises.

During the evening we will look at:

What to do if someone is burned or scalded

Why burns should be cooled with cool running water for 20 minutes

How to cover a cooled burn safely

What you should and should not put on a burn

What to do if clothing catches fire

Sparkler and firework injuries

Eye injuries and smoke inhalation

How to recognise when a burn may be serious

When to call 999 or get medical help

The session is mainly aimed at adults and is suitable for people with no previous first aid experience.

We understand that some people may need to bring children with them. If you would like to bring a child, please contact us before booking so we can make sure there is enough space and the session can still be run safely.

Free parking is available and tea and coffee will be provided.

This is a first aid awareness session and does not provide a formal first aid qualification.
