This free 4-week programme in Newcastle will give you practical skills, expert support and the confidence to explore your idea and turn it into a real opportunity.
You don't need a finished business idea or any previous business experience to take part. Just bring your ideas and a willingness to explore what's possible.
What will you get from the programme?
Across four practical, interactive sessions, you'll learn how to:
Develop and test your idea
Understand what it takes to be an entrepreneur
Work out your costs, pricing and cashflow
Identify your customers and market your idea
Build a brand and use social media effectively
Develop your confidence
Create and deliver an engaging business pitch
Plan your next steps towards your new career
You'll also have the opportunity to meet other people exploring their own business ideas and receive support from the PNE team throughout the programme.
Decide that self-employment is not right for you? No problem! You'll walk way with transferable skills that you can use to support your search for a new career!
Your 4-week programme
Week 1 – Build Your Blueprint & Discover Your Spark
Thursday 29th October, 10am–1pm
Explore what it means to be an entrepreneur, identify the skills you already have and start developing your idea. You'll create your own business blueprint to build on throughout the programme.
Week 2 – Master Your Money
Thursday 5th November, 10am–1pm
Take the fear out of business finance. We'll explore start-up costs, pricing, cashflow and the financial basics you'll need to understand when turning an idea into a business.
Week 3 – Own Your Narrative
Thursday 12th November, 10am–1pm
Learn how to get your business noticed. We'll explore your target customers, branding, marketing, social media and how to create content that connects with the right people.
Week 4 – Perfect Your Pitch & Take the Lead
Thursday 19th November, 10am–1pm
Build your confidence and learn how to talk about your idea with impact. You'll develop your business pitch, put your new skills into practice and explore the next steps you can take after the programme.
Who is it for?
Make Your Own Job is for North East residents who are interested in exploring starting a business, freelancing or self-employment.
You don't need to already have a business, and your idea doesn't need to be fully developed.
The programme is completely free, but places are limited. As this is a four-week programme, participants are expected to attend all four sessions.
