About This Event

The Don't Call Me Scary! event will take place at Bewick Hall in Newcastle City Library on 22 October 2026 at 16:30. The event is free to attend and explores themes of identity and storytelling.

What happens when the story being told about you is wrong, and no one around you can name it?

Monique’s book draws on her own journey — as a Black woman, a mother, and a professional who has spent decades navigating rooms not built with her in mind — and speaks honestly about self-discovery, faith, and the work of simply carrying on.

Monique's work follows one throughline: helping people notice what's happening to them, name it clearly, and navigate forward — with authenticity, resilience, and their voice fully intact.
