About This Event

A film meet-up for the screening of 'I Play Rocky' will occur at the ODEON Metrocentre in Gateshead. The film tells the true story of a struggling actor who insists on playing the lead role in his own script, which later becomes a major box office success.

Film description: A struggling actor with a partially paralyzed face and a speech impediment writes a script that a big movie studio wants to buy, but he refuses to sell it unless he gets to play the lead. Turning down an offer of life-changing money, he instead works for pennies to get the movie made with himself in the starring role. The movie becomes the biggest box office hit of 1976, notching ten Oscar nominations and winning Best Picture. The true story of the making of the iconic movie Rocky. Come with me to watch I Play Rocky, meeting outside of costa next to odeon at 5.30, actual film run time: 5.50-8.03pm. Pls see event chat for ticket/seating info. Everyone is welcome to join provided you love films and have good cinema etiquette, hope to see you there☺️
