About this Event

This short presentation will explain why waxcap grasslands are important and introduce the scoring systems for evaluating individual sites. There will also be a brief chat about the books and keys used when identifying waxcap fungi and the features that are important when in the field.

We'll show you how to identify waxcaps in the field and how to submit your sightings, so you can continue contributing to this exciting project long after the course has finished.

About Your Tutor

Sally is a fungi enthusiast and has been studying fungi for 10 years with the North East Fungus Study Group. I love the sensory aspect of finding mushrooms – the smells, the colours and the ‘feel’ of a mushroom can be so vibrant and variable. The hobby is addictive!
