Orchestra North East is very pleased to be returning to Newcastle Cathedral to present another evening concert of classical music, in what will be the Orchestra’s 40th Anniversary concert. Programme George Butterworth – A Shropshire Lad: Rhapsody for Orchestra Sergei Rachmaninov – Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Camille Saint-Saëns – Symphony No. 3 “Organ Symphony” Conductor: James Burton Piano Soloist: Khrystyna Mykhailichenko A representative from Orchestra North East says: “It will be a great pleasure to welcome Khrystyna to play for us once more. We know she has a special relationship with the North East and she is a great favourite with our Cathedral audiences. Her busy career is blossoming and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate that she is able to join us again, playing a major work of the piano repertoire. Butterworth’s poignant Rhapsody, along with the Cathedral’s own organ having a prominent role in Saint-Saëns’s Symphony, will complete what we hope will be a very enjoyable evening of musical contrasts. “It will be a particular pleasure to work with James again.
