Newcastle Cathedral continues its tradition of offering a delightful midday musical interlude with its free Monday organ recitals. Commencing promptly at 1:05pm each week, these performances provide a wonderful opportunity for the public to immerse themselves in the magnificent sounds of the cathedral's renowned Lewis/Harrison/Nicholson organ. Audiences can anticipate a varied programme, showcasing the considerable talents of organists from Newcastle and the surrounding regions, as well as visiting musicians of national and international repute. The cathedral’s awe-inspiring acoustics ensure that the organ’s full, resonant power is experienced to its utmost, creating a truly memorable and uplifting atmosphere. While admission is free, a retiring collection will be gratefully received. Visitors are encouraged to make a donation, with a suggested contribution of £5, to help support these regular musical events and the ongoing upkeep of this historic instrument and its sacred home.
