Do you have a special object that reminds you of someone you have loved and lost? Join us for a creative writing workshop at the Cathedral this September, where you will have the opportunity to create your own original poem based on this person and your sentimental object. No previous poetry or writing experience is needed. Through a series of relaxed, supportive activities, we’ll help you explore your creativity in a welcoming environment. Please bring along your chosen object, or a photograph of it if you prefer. The session will be led by author Bridget Hamilton, whose debut YA novel We Wait for the Stars was published in July this year. Laura Barrett, Community Bereavement Projects Lead at St Oswald’s Hospice, will also be in attendance to offer support to anyone who may need it. We look forward to welcoming you. Please note: Children under 16 must always be accompanied by an adult; we are running an additional workshop for adults on Sunday 6 September at 1:15pm. The sessions on Sunday 6 September will take place in the Cathedral’s Education Room, which is accessible via a lift. Pre-booking is essential. The session on Sunday 13 September will be held online. To help us create a safe and supportive environment for everyone, we ask that participants keep their camera on during introductions and group work. This is part of our safeguarding procedures. To help cover the Cathedral’s running costs, we suggest a donation of £3 per participant. This workshop is supported by St Oswald’s Community Bereavement Team, and we invite participants to make an additional £3 donation to support their work.
