Join professional photographer Ian Munro in our Wex Newcastle store for an inspiring live demonstration exploring how to create dynamic, storytelling portraits using simple techniques, creative lighting and affordable props.

Ian will share examples of his work and offer insight into the thought processes, planning and lighting decisions behind his portraits. He will then build a live portrait setup using a model, demonstrating how carefully chosen props and straightforward lighting techniques can transform an idea into a compelling image.

The session will show that creative portrait photography does not need to involve complicated setups or expensive equipment. With planning, imagination and an understanding of light, photographers can produce distinctive portraits that capture attention and tell a story. Celebrate Newcastle's 5th birthday too!

Three FREE sessions are available, each lasting approximately one hour and limited to 6 x customers per session.

Each session will include:

Introduction and presentation — 15 minutes: Discover Ian’s work and learn about the ideas, planning and lighting decisions behind his creative portraits.

Live portrait demonstration — 30 minutes: Watch Ian go through a portrait setup and photograph a model using accessible lighting techniques and carefully selected props.

Questions and discussion — 15 minutes: Ask Ian about his approach and discover different ways to create your own portraits that tell a story.
