A Tidal Energy Workshop for students in years 10 to 13 takes place at Clevedon Sailing Club in Newport. Graduate engineers will deliver activities and learning sessions regarding renewable energy. Tickets are free.
Join us for a fun day of activities and learning more about renewable energy. The sessions will be delivered by young graduate engineers.
The workshop will cover methods of tidal power generation (tidal stream and tidal range), environmental impacts of tidal energy capture, elements of mechanical and electrical engineering as well as the design, build and testing of a model turbine.
The event is held inside Clevedon Sailing Club (upstairs without level access) as well as on Clevedon Pier (free entry) and at Marine Lake for testing the turbines. Please bring your own food and drink for lunch and suitable clothing for going outdoors (both the pier and lake sections are pretty exposed to the elements).
