The Perfect Spring Marathon Prep Race!
The Naseby 1645 is a 16.45 mile road race that weaves it way through stunning rural Northamptonshire, passing seven Battle of Naseby 1645 memorials and viewpoints. Being staged in February, as runners are building up their mileage towards the 26.2 miles, it provides a perfect marathon prep event for those training for Spring marathons.
Race information
A unique challenge, at the perfect time of year for those preparing for Spring marathons, the Naseby 1645 weaves through rural Northamptonshire passing seven Battle of Naseby 1645 memorials and viewpoints.
Race HQ, Start/Finish – Naseby Village Hall, Naseby.
Because we are operating road closures at the Naseby 1645 event, we are advising that all runners should feel confident in completing the distance within 4 hours. This works out at an average running pace of 14m 35s per mile.
Minimum age for entry is 18 years old on race day only.
Entries, and transfer of entries, will close 7-days before the event.
Start time/location
Registration will be open from 07:00 with the race starting at 09:00.
Race numbers (containing timing chips) are to be collected from registration on the morning of the race. No numbers will be posted out before the event.
Race HQ, the start and finish, will be at – Naseby Village Hall, Haselbech Road, Naseby NN6 6DE. There will be a bag drop area within Naseby Village Hall for small, labelled bags.
There will be no parking available at Naseby Village Hall, but we will be operating a free shuttle bus service from Market Harborough as well as providing a drop off and pick up point in the village. Details are below.
Free Shuttle Bus Service
A free Shuttle Bus service will be operating from Market Harborough where there is plenty of free parking available on a Sunday.
Coaches will be in operation leaving the Market Hall in Market Harborough with two coaches leaving at each of the following times: 07:20, 07:25, 08:00, 08:05.
For the return journey the first coach will leave Naseby at 11:15, and coaches will depart every 15 minutes thereafter with the final one at around 13:15 (or whenever the last runners are ready to leave).
The journey takes approximately 15 minutes each way. Coach times will be confirmed closer to the time.
There will be a drop off and pick up point in operation in Naseby so that participants not wishing to use the shuttle bus option can be dropped off for the race. Further details of this location will be shared closer to race day. We would encourage you to car share if using this option.
Runners are asked not to park in Naseby itself.
The route
The route remains unchanged from 2027.
The route is challenging and you are guaranteed a PB for the distance (unless you ran it last year!) as there is nothing like it in the area. It is entirely run on roads, many of which will be closed during the race to traffic, ensuring the highest standards of safety for runners. This is a challenging and undulating course having a total ascent of 289m.
In line with UKA rules, headphones are not permitted, other than the bone conductor type.

On-course support
As in previous years, we will have water stations at regular intervals along the route. These will be located at around the 3, 6, 9 and 13.5 mile marks, as well as one at the finish.
Prizes
There will be trophies for the top 3 male and female finishers, and all finishers will receive a specially commissioned Naseby 1645 event medal.
Free race photos!
As with all Race Harborough events – you don’t pay for your race pics! Free digital downloads of your race are available to download soon after the race finishes and we’ll announce their availability on our Facebook page.
Charity
For 2027 this race will once again be run in aid of the Bruce Green Foundation, with a proportion of all entry fees going direct to the charity.
Founded in 2018, the foundation works with young people in Northants who face social inequalities as a result of poor access to education, healthcare and mental health support. It enables them to make changes for the betterment of their lives through the provision of long-term interventions, the external delivery of collective entertainment, and by supporting partner organisations who share their mission. Please help us to support them by donating any amount you can.
