Get creative with fabric and stitches in this chill, hands-on sewing session where you make your own style rules.
Coming this autumn: a workshop that explores how to use your sewing machine as a creative tool—not just for dressmaking—while expanding your creative boundaries through hand embroidery stitches.
Free-form embroidery is a creative and intuitive style of stitching where your design evolves organically on the fabric without a rigid, pre-planned pattern.
Key Principles
Stitch without a plan: Let colors, shapes, and textures guide your next move instead of tracing a strict template.
Mix your stitches: Combine simple traditional stitches like chain stitches, backstitches, and feather stitches into organic motifs.
Embrace imperfection: Allow unexpected marks, color changes, and stray lines to become part of the final piece of textile art
Discover texture, colour and personal expression: Experiment with layering fabrics, free-motion stitching and simple embellishment techniques to create distinctive textile pieces that reflect your own style. Whether you are new to creative stitching or ready to take your skills in a fresh direction, this supportive workshop will give you practical inspiration and the confidence to play.

Each week, a sewing machine will be ready for you to use. If you have never used one before, or would like to build your confidence, I will support and guide you through setting up the machine, choosing stitches to try, and basic maintenance.
As your skills grow, so will your project. I will guide you step by step through a range of hand-embroidery stitches, fabric layering, and embellishment techniques.
This is not for dress making. The school is set up to offer practical hands on help and to give you the confidence to create textile projects. From Hand sewing skills, to making works of art through the use of textiles.
