About This Event

Home Educators' Craft Club will be held at Castle Quarter in Norwich on 27 October 2026. This pay-what-you-can, neurodiversity-friendly club focuses on learning practical skills for children aged 7 and above.

Get crafty and learn practical skills in our neurodiversity-friendly, pay-what-you-can home educators craft club. Suitable for children 7+

A cosy craft club created especially for home-educated children, with a focus on textile upcycling — turning pre-loved textiles into something new.

Each session offers a led craft activity, with extra materials available for children who'd rather work independently or continue a longer-term project from a previous session. Sessions are relaxed, with a small group size, designed to be welcoming to neurodivergent children and those with SEND — children are welcome to join in, observe, or work at their own pace.

Run by New-U, a Norwich based charity supporting unemployed adults through tailored work placements and delivering a range of community support and activities across Norfolk. This project was shaped by feedback from the home educating community and made possible by funding from the East of England Co-op Community Cares Fund.

What to expect

Our first session on Tuesday 27th October will be making simple Halloween decorations. Alongside the making, children will pick up practical skills — sewing, cutting and repairing — that they can use again and again.

When

Fortnightly on Tuesdays, 10:00–11:30

October Dates: Tue 27th

November dates: Tue 10th and 24th

December dates: Tue 8th

Where

The Honesty Library, Level 2, Castle Quarter, Norwich (lift access, step-free via car park level J). Our Honesty Library is usual open to the public 10am-4pm Tuesday - Saturday if you would like to explore the space before attedning a session.

Price

FREE to book. We're part-funded, which enables us to offer some places free or at a reduced cost. A suggested donation of £5–10 per child is appreciated, but we're trialling a pay-what-you-can-afford model. If you're able to contribute anything to help cover staffing and equipment costs, please give to staff on the day or pop something in the donation bucket.

Places

Limited to 8 children per session, so please book ahead to secure a spot. When booking please only book a place for the attending child/ children and not the accompanying adult.

Help shape the club

This is a pilot, and we want it to grow around what works for your children. If there's something that would help your child get more from a session — please tell us so we can develop and grow these session around the needs of you and you're children.
