Starting on 12 November 2026, a five-week workshop at Norwich Unity Hub will focus on parenting children with ADHD, providing practical support and strategies for parents and caregivers. The sessions will address common challenges and encourage participants to share their experiences in a supportive environment. The programme aims to help families navigate the complexities of ADHD without requiring a formal diagnosis.
Make sense of your child’s ADHD traits, explore everyday challenges and find practical support over five weeks. No diagnosis needed. Parenting children with ADHD can be very difficult . Routines are often harder to get going, emotions are often flying around and life can feel quite chaotic. Or maybe you are worried about your child’s self-esteem, their attention at school or their friendships. In this block of five weekly workshops we will look at why these things can be difficult and learn some strategies to help make life feel easier and calmer for us as parents and for the children in our lives. Each session will have the opportunity for conversation: parents and caregivers will be encouraged to share their experiences and their challenges. Pricing We want specialist support to be financially accessible, so places are offered using a sliding scale. Families can choose for themselves the price that best reflects their circumstances. Everyone receives exactly the same five-week programme, whichever price they select. The lower prices do not reflect a difference in the quality or value of the support- they are offered so that cost does not prevent families from taking part. Each ticket books one parent or carer onto the complete five-week programme. Guidance beneath each ticket option will help you choose the price that best reflects your current circumstances. This workshop is subsidised by Norfolk Community Foundation’s Love Norfolk Grant. If you need further support with the cost, please email admin@tendcollective.co.uk and we’ll send you a code to attend for free. No questions asked- we don’t want cost to be a barrier to joining us. Week 1: Lowering the temperature: reducing meltdowns and arguments Children with ADHD often have very active nervous systems. This session will help parents and caregivers to see why it’s important for the adult to stay calm and learn some strategies to support this. We will share what drains us as parents and caregivers and find ways to fill our cups to help us stay calm and de-escalate. Week 2: Routines and making life easier: calm the chaos There is a lot of chaos in a typical ADHD household. Often a parent has ADHD as well as the child. Routines are hard to follow, stuff is hard to keep in one place, homework is forgotten or lost, school mornings are often dreadful and after school is often a time of explosions. We will share our own stories of chaos and mayhem and learn some strategies to help make daily routines calmer. Week 3: Self-esteem and rejection sensitivity Children with ADHD are told off or reminded of their failures very frequently. Often, they end up building a picture of themselves as not good enough, forgetful, messy, loud, silly or constantly daydreaming. Add this to their fragile self-esteem and people-pleasing nature and they often end up lacking in confidence. We will share our experiences of their ADHD and learn how to value their spark and nurture their self-esteem. Week 4: Attention and getting started In this session we will learn some strategies to help children of all ages get started with a task, even the most daunting of tasks. We will look at motivation and how children with ADHD can benefit from some different strategies to help them feel rewarded. We will also discuss some and some tricks which can help them sustain their attention in school and at home. Week 5: Filling their cup – supporting children’s sensory needs In this session we will talk about sensory seeking and sensory avoiding behaviours. We will look at what helps children’s different sensory needs and what irritates them. This session will also provide an opportunity to revisit previous topics and have an open conversation about what we will take away. Your Programme Summary At the end of the five weeks, you’ll receive a written Programme Summary covering the key themes and areas you have explored during the workshop. This gives you something concrete to take away from the programme and can also be useful when talking with your child’s school or other professionals involved with your family. It can help you show what you have been exploring, the approaches you have learned about and the work you have undertaken as a parent or caregiver. Your Programme Summary reflects your participation in a specialist-led parent programme. It is not an assessment or clinical report about your child and does not provide a diagnosis or replace individual therapeutic or clinical assessment.
