About This Event

Bess’s Dream is a new display in Bess of Hardwick’s private bedroom at Hardwick, Nottingham. Admission is required.

Bess’s Dream is a new display taking place in Bess of Hardwick’s private bedroom. Bess’s final days were spent in this room which makes it a powerful place to delve into her letters to help us understand what thoughts and memories may have surfaced in her dreams just before her passing.

This display will also feature Bess’s 400-year-old gown, a rare survival of textile clothing from this period, which hasn’t been on public display before. Along with an 8-minute film which will offer you the chance to immerse yourself in Bess’s life.

Please note that the film which forms part of the display includes content on child loss. There is a quiet space in the gallery area for anyone looking to pause or reflect.
