Nottingham Hyking Dykes is a lesbian walking group that organises monthly hikes, primarily in the Peak District. The walks are free and typically cover 6-8 miles, with shorter options available. Participants are encouraged to bring a packed lunch and water for the hike.
Nottingham Hyking Dykes is a friendly and welcoming lesbian walking group. Our monthly walks - almost all of which are in the Peak District - take place on the 3rd Sunday of every month, starting promptly at 10.30am. Walks are usually between 6-8 miles (most have shorter versions for those who cannot do the longer walks) and take about 4-5 hours, so a packed lunch and water is needed. There’s no formal membership organisation, so we don't organise shared transport, but can post up requests on someone's behalf, so long as they add their contact details, so arrangements are made directly with the person seeking a car share. On our website there are details for new walkers in terms of equipment and clothing etc. https://www.nottinghamhd.org.uk/general-info.html Details of the monthly walks are posted up on the website and emailed at the beginning of each month, to those who go on our mailing list. Contact info - NottsHD@gmail.com Accessibility - Walks in the Peak District are generally not wheelchair accessible, and can be challenging for lesbians who are visually impaired as there is often mud, stiles, and farm animals to navigate. We do however try and offer a shorter walk each month for lesbians who want to walk but are unable to walk as far due to age and physical needs. Gender neutral toilets - We use toilets at venues near the start and end of walks so cannot guarantee this. Additional info - We don't meet if the weather is very bad/dangerous.
