About this event
Join us on the fourth anniversary of the fire that took the lives of Fatoumatta Hydara and her daughters, Fatimah and Naeemah.
In the early hours of 20 November 2022, Fatoumatta, 28, and her daughters, aged three and one, were attacked in their home in Clifton, Nottingham. Their neighbour deliberately started a fire at their home and was subsequently convicted of three counts of murder. The girls died shortly after reaching hospital. Fatoumatta died two days later.
Family and friends have described ongoing harassment and racist comments before the attack. They believe racism played a part in why the family was targeted.
We will come together to remember their lives, stand with their family and reflect on what it takes for everyone to feel safe at home.
The gathering will include tributes and refreshments. All are welcome.
Hosted with the Nottingham Solidarity Network, in collaboration with the African Institute for Social Development, Heya Arab Women’s Support Group, Black Lives Matter and other community partners.
Content note
The gathering will include references to murder, racism and bereavement. Please take part in whatever way feels comfortable for you.
