Jenny Hartill will present the third module of the Working with Anxiety course on 6 October 2026. The online session explores how anxiety can present in clients, including cases where they struggle to let go or fear its return. It examines client presentations such as maintaining anxiety or taking on others' problems.
Does your client seem to have a perfect life, yet still struggle with anxiety? Or perhaps they believe they _are_ their anxiety and will never get better? Maybe they can't let go of their anxiety, continually feed it, or are frightened that it will return.
In this final module of the _Working with Anxiety_ course, we move into the therapy room and explore the different ways anxiety can present in our clients - including some of the things they may not tell us directly.
We’ll explore a range of common client presentations, including those who:
- don’t understand why they feel anxious despite having a seemingly “perfect” life
- believe anxiety has become part of who they are
- struggle to let go of their anxiety
- inadvertently feed and maintain their anxiety
- are afraid of their anxiety symptoms or of the anxiety returning
- take on everyone else’s problems while neglecting their own needs
We’ll examine the thoughts, behaviours and coping patterns that can maintain anxiety, alongside practical exercises and techniques tailored to the way anxiety is presenting for each individual client.
We’ll also introduce a range of anxiety disorders commonly encountered in the therapy room, including one particularly uncommon disorder that you may never have come across before.
Finally, we’ll bring together everything covered throughout the three-part course and practise using this knowledge to develop individualised treatment plans for clients experiencing anxiety.
This workshop is designed to help you move beyond simply recognising anxiety, giving you greater confidence in understanding how it is presenting, what may be maintaining it, and how you can work therapeutically with the individual client.
