In connection with the exhibition Joan Eardley: The Sea at Catterline, at The Maltings, Berwick-upon-Tweed, which explores the dramatic seascapes created by one of the most distinctive British artists of the twentieth century. Exhibition details can be found here. The exhibition runs until 11 Oct 2026. Using materials such as thick paint (oils), sand and grasses, she built surfaces that evoke the physical force of wind and waves. Learn how Eardley created expressive, richly textured paintings that capture the energy, movement and atmosphere of the landscape. All materials included apart from an A3 canvas board which you will need to bring. Workshops are payable in advance and non-refundable or transferable after seven days before the event date.
