Gender, Violence & Art: A conversation with Wilma Woolf will explore themes of art, feminism, and social change. This community event invites discussion on the intersection of these important topics.
A conversation on art, feminism and social change.
How can art confront injustice, challenge the ways we see the world and give visibility to experiences too often hidden from view?
Join us at Kellogg College for an unscripted conversation between visual artist Wilma Woolf and art historian, author and curator Dr Catherine McCormack, exploring the relationship between art, feminism and social change.
The discussion will focus on two of Woolf’s powerful works, Domestic and Temple of Safety, which draw on data, research and personal testimonies to expose violence against women and challenge the structures that allow it to remain hidden. Together, Woolf and McCormack will place these works in the wider history of feminist interventions in visual culture, exploring how artists have challenged dominant narratives, made injustice visible and used art as a catalyst for change.
