About This Event

Hosted at the East Oxford Community Centre, this upcoming event will celebrate the UN International Day of Older People by exploring how to transform higher education into an inclusive experience for all generations. The workshop features various performers and aims to help shape a future where universities have no age limits. Participants will engage with discussions on removing barriers to learning throughout life.

Celebrate the UN International Day of Older People with us and help shape a future of a higher education without age limits!

What would it be like if universities were truly places for people of all ages?

How could partnerships between universities and local communities provide both valuable education and positive changes in everyday life?

In celebration of the UN International Day of Older People, we invited you to join us for lively discussions and activities that will change the way you think about higher education!

We will hear presentations by experts in lifelong and intergenerational learning who have pioneered exciting programs to bring together older and younger learners, creating opportunities for finding solutions to everyday issues in the community together.

These inspiring presentations will spark ideas for creating a university where everyone feels welcome and valued. We'll talk about what education means to older people and how you would like to use education to improve your life.

People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to attend, whether you are a student, educator, community organiser, or just interested in supporting age-inclusive multigenerational learning!

Your ideas will become the foundation of a new program of multigenerational community-engaged learning at Oxford Brookes University that will be developed over the coming years in conjunction with our plans to make Oxford and Age-Friendly City.

Refreshments and a light lunch will be served free of charge.

This event is sponsored by the British Society of Gerontology and the Healthy Ageing & Care Network at Oxford Brookes University.

Description supplied by the event organiser.
