Let's Walk is a way to get more active, meet new people and discover your local area by the water. Ours walks are free, fun and friendly. About this Event Event Description: Let's Walk - Oxford Canal Festival Historic Tour Distance: approx. 1.6 km / 1 mile Duration: 45 minutes to an hour Start Time: 14:30pm Start and finish point: Hythe Bridge Entrance to The Oxford Canal, Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford, OX1 2EW (what three words ///pack.boat.scan) Pace: Leisurely. The walk, run by the Canal & River Trust, will be led by volunteer walk leaders who are full of interesting information about the local area. A leisurely afternoon A to B walk. We take the path from Hythe Bridge to Isis Lock before following the canal towpath to Arisotle Lane Recreation Ground where walkers are invited to take part in the Oxford Canal Festival and explore the many events and stalls going on. On the route, reknowned local canal historian, Catherine Robinson, will regail you with the stories of the canal and those whole lived and worked on it. This is a leisurely walk which allows time to stop and take photos, take in the local wildlife and generally enjoy the well-being effects of being by water. Please note that the Thames Path and the Oxford canal towpath are level and flat, but there are two hump back bridges to cross. The sheepwash channel towpath passes under the railway with low headroom. The walk is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the walk, but must be kept on the lead at all times. The great thing about walking is that you do not need any fancy equipment. Please just wear comfortable shoes and to bring some water. Book now Please book one time slot per person. These sessions are designed for adults and for children from seven years old upwards as an introduction to walking and are easy grade along our amazing towpaths. Learn a bit of history or see some awesome wildlife which is around every turn on our waterways . Parents and Guardians are required to accompany their children on this walk. Walk ins will not be accepted. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket via Eventbrite or please get in touch with us to allow another person(s) a chance to take part. A leisurely afternoon A to B walk.
