Join avid Lichen enthusiast Caleb Wellock as he helps uncover the wonderful world of lichens growing on the rocks and trees of Dun Collich.

Lichens are amazing. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours,

can survive in arctic conditions and even in space.

But what is a lichen? What can they teach us about community and working

together?

Join avid Lichen enthusiast Caleb Wellock as he helps uncover the

wonderful world of lichens growing on the rocks and trees of Dun Collich.

All are welcome to this event to learn about what a lichen is, some basic

identification skills and why Lichens are so important in the ecosystem. We

may even discover Orange Sunburst lichen, Mountain Foam lichen or “The

belly button of the Earth”!

Guided walk length approximately 2-3 hours, begins at 2pm.

(Please note participants are required to have a reasonable level of fitness for

this event. Warm layers and sturdy shoes essential. Please bring along a 10x

hand lens if you have one though we do have some we can lend out.)
