Join artist-researcher Kathryn Parsons for a fascinating talk exploring the changing story of Westings Meadow. Discover the forgotten history of this remarkable landscape, from medieval common land and Enclosure through industry and gravel extraction to today's nature recovery, and how these changes have shaped the place we see today.
The talk will be followed by refreshments and an informal textile workshop for those who wish to take part. Kathryn is creating a heritage shepherd's smock embellished with stories of the land through visible mending for exhibition in October. Explore traditional repair skills and contribute stitches to the smock artwork inspired by the area's rich agricultural heritage. No previous sewing experience needed, please let us know if you have accessibility requirements – everyone is welcome, suitable for ages 16+.
The project is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, supported by the Environment Agency.
