A photography exhibition titled AFTERGLOW will be held on 25 September 2026 at 103 Union St in Plymouth.
Delphi Grain's Contemporary Photography Exhibition Tracing the Transformation of Legendary Plymouth Nightclub C103 into Urban Farm.
PLYMOUTH, UK A new contemporary solo photography exhibition by emerging Southwest-based photographer Delphi Grain explores the metamorphosis of C103, one of Plymouth’s most iconic former nightclubs, into City Farm House, a pioneering urban farm initiative led by Nudge Community Builders.
Titled AFTERGLOW, the exhibition opens on September 25, 2026, at C103 City Farm House (103 Union Street, Plymouth, PL1 3EY) with a Private View featuring a licensed bar and live DJ (Syltex) from 6:00 PM to 10:0 PM.
From Subwoofers to Substrates
Located at 103 Union Street (formerly known as JFK’s, TIFFS, Castaways, The Street, The Warehouse ), C103 holds a legendary status in Plymouth's nightlife history. Once a subterranean haven for hard dance and electronic music, its dancefloors hosted major acts and legendary guest DJs including drum and bass pioneer Fabio, house veteran Seb Fontaine, and The Ratpack.
Today, through the work of Nudge Community Builders—a local Community Benefit Society— the space is undergoing a radical post-industrial shift into City Farm House. The site is being developed into a vibrant urban farm dedicated to producing fresh local food, providing grow- your-own kits, and running education and outreach workshops, and organising several art and science collaborations centred around aeroponic crops and mushroom cultivation.
Regenerative Ecology
Over the last several months, photographer Delphi Grain has situated herself inside the concrete shell of C103 to document this transition. Moving through darkrooms that once echoed with bass and strobe lights, Grain’s vivid photographic study captures the quiet takeover of living systems: mycelium weaving through former dancefloors and flora reaching toward new light. Utilizing her signature fascination with vivid colour, light, and intricate detail, Grain’s series explores growth cycles, change and sustainable farming practices through a community perspective and an ecocentric lens.
About Delphi Grain
Delphi Grain is a young, emerging contemporary photographer based in the Southwest of England. Surrounded by rugged moorland and coastal backdrops, her practice is inspired by light, vivid colour, intricate details, and community collaboration. She recently sat down with East End Echoes community magazine to share insights into her photographic journey and community projects:
"My work is driven by a love for vivid colour, intricate details, and authentic human connection," says Delphi Grain. "Whether building bold visual concepts or collaborating in community projects, I treat every shoot as a creative journey. Pouring that energy into this solo exhibition at C103 alongside City Farm House has been an incredible experience, and I can't wait to share these images and spread awareness about this wonderful urban farm and community."
