Creatures for change: a creative workshop in response to the Plymouth City Living Project and The Way We Live Exhibition.

Take inspiration from Dartmoor folktales and create a 'creature for change' that represents your relationship with home, your current way of life, and your hopes for Plymouth’s future. Wirh figures like Old Crockern, envision your own guardian spirit of Plymouth that can embody the kind of life you want to be able to live in the future.

This workshop is a part of the The Way We Live exhibition, a film that highlights how Plymouth’s city centre was shaped with people in mind, during its WW2 regeneration, including scenes of conversations at Efford’s Community Centre to gathering residents’ visions for how they wish to live. As the film states, the goal was to ‘consider the best use of the land for the benefit of the community as a whole’ (32:01).

With Plymouth’s city centre set to transform again through the Plymouth City Living Project, this workshop invites you to reflect on the project and share your aspirations for its development. Can your creature find a home within the Plymouth City Living Project? Does the Plymouth City Living Project addresses your desires? What is working well and what can be recommended to change in the project? This is a space to be creative, play, and feel empowered to voice what you would like to see in the Plymouth City Living Project, along with exploring the wonders of Dartmoor mythology.

Aimed at adults, and children 16+.
