About This Event

An afternoon of talks and workshops on faith in action against modern slavery is scheduled for 14 October 2026 at the Methodist Central Hall in Plymouth. The event aims to raise awareness, help participants recognise signs of exploitation, and provide guidance on reporting concerns safely. The programme is suitable for people of all faiths and nones.

Modern slavery and human trafficking can affect people in any community, often remaining hidden from view. Global Plymouth is pleased to help raise awareness of **𝗦𝗲𝗲, 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸, 𝗔𝗰𝘁: 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆**, an important afternoon of talks and workshops taking place in Plymouth on **𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲**. The event originated through Caritas and local faith communities, but the programme is suitable for **𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝗻𝗲**. Its purpose is to increase awareness of modern slavery across Plymouth and the wider South West, help participants recognise possible signs of exploitation, and provide practical guidance on how concerns can be reported safely and appropriately. **𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:** **𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲** **𝟭.𝟬𝟬–𝟱.𝟭𝟱 𝗽𝗺** **𝗣𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹** **𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱** **𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲** The programme will include contributions from: **𝗕𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 — 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁** COO and Deputy CEO of Medaille Trust, one of the UK’s leading providers of support for survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking. **𝗟𝗼𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝘀𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮 — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲** Director of The Clewer Initiative, which works to raise awareness and mobilise churches and communities to prevent and respond to modern slavery. **𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗧𝗢𝗘𝗫) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲** Providing law-enforcement partners with dedicated intelligence, analytical and technical expertise to support complex investigations into organised exploitation, including modern slavery and human trafficking. The afternoon will focus on three simple but important actions: **𝗦𝗲𝗲** — recognise possible signs of exploitation. **𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸** — know when and where to raise concerns. **𝗔𝗰𝘁** — respond safely and responsibly. For Global Plymouth, this is closely connected to the kind of community we want to help build: one in which people feel welcomed, valued and safe, and where vulnerability is not ignored. **𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱, 𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱.** **👉 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲
