About This Event

World AIDS Day 2026: An Afternoon of Remembrance and Hope will be hosted by The Eddystone Trust at MVV Environment Devonport on 1 December 2026. The event will focus on remembrance, celebration, and learning.

Join The Eddystone Trust in Plymouth this World AIDS Day for an afternoon of remembrance, celebration and learning.

Come together this World AIDS Day to remember, reflect, celebrate and look towards the future.

World AIDS Day is an opportunity to remember those we have lost to AIDS-related illnesses, show support for people living with HIV and recognise how far we've come in the response to HIV.

This year, The Eddystone Trust invites you to join us in Plymouth for a special afternoon bringing people together through remembrance, learning and celebration.

Whether you have a personal connection to HIV, work within health and community services, or simply want to find out more, everyone is welcome.

What to Expect

The afternoon will include a welcome from The Eddystone Trust, an opportunity to take part in our bitesize HIV awareness training, and time to connect with others over refreshments.

You'll also have the opportunity to look around the building before joining us for a special moment as the Lord Mayor of Plymouth illuminates the building red in recognition of World AIDS Day.

Schedule

2pm–4pm | Welcome and Bitesize HIV Training

Join us for a welcome and an accessible introduction to HIV today. Explore the facts, challenge common misconceptions and learn more about HIV transmission, testing, treatment, prevention and U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable).

4pm–5pm | Refreshments and Building Tour

Enjoy refreshments, meet others attending and take a look around the building.

5pm | Lord Mayor's Red Illumination

Join the Lord Mayor of Plymouth for a special moment as the building is illuminated red to mark World AIDS Day.

Who Should Attend?

Everyone is welcome. Whether you're a health or social care professional, work with a community organisation, have a personal connection to HIV or simply want to improve your understanding, we'd love you to join us.

No previous knowledge of HIV is needed.

Why Join Us?

World AIDS Day is about more than raising awareness. It's about remembering lives, recognising progress, supporting people living with HIV and continuing to challenge the stigma and discrimination that remain.

As we come together, we celebrate the progress made in HIV prevention and treatment while recognising the work still to be done.
