Heritage Open Days will offer free entry to Kingston Lacy in Poole, featuring a range of spectacular artworks and picturesque landscapes. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing picnic on the south lawn and explore nearby play areas for children. The event invites families to experience the beautiful Japanese Garden among other attractions during its run on selected dates.
There's plenty to see, from spectacular artworks to beautiful landscapes. Enjoy a summer picnic on the south lawn, or let little visitors run wild in nearby play areas. Wander through the Japanese Garden to the Kitchen Garden, which is being restored to Victorian splendour. Or explore the vast 8,500 acres of estate, featuring Iron Age hill forts, colourful heathland, water meadows and the world's oldest pedigree herd of Red Ruby Devon cattle.
New for 2026 join a guided tour to discover more about the collections of Kingston Lacy house:
• 10.15am and 2.45pm - A Kingston Lacy Safari: From finches to bulls and tortoises to lions, find out about the animals and art that call Kingston Lacy their home in this guided tour.
• 10.20am and 2.50pm - The Home of Rani Lacy: India has come to Kingston Lacy this summer - discover the journeys these pieces of art took to arrive in National Trust houses.
• 10.25am and 2.55pm - Hidden Stories: Hear the incredible stories brushed into paintings, woven into tapestries and carved into stone.
Tours are limited to 10 people per tour, and places can be reserved on the day at Visitor Reception on a first come, first served basis.
If you would like to discover more about the garden, formal garden tours will be running on Thursday and Friday at 11.30am and 2pm. No pre-booking needed, just meet at the Garden Tour sign in the Rotunda.
Kingston Lacy will be open 9.30am - 5pm. The house opens at 10.30am with last entry at 3pm.
