About This Event

A creative workshop titled Adding Your Voices to Portsmouth's Future is held at Aspex Portsmouth on 16 August 2026. The session explores the city's history and future soundscapes through voice and memory. Attendance is free.

A creative workshop exploring Portsmouth's history and imagining, through voice and memory, what the city might sound like in a 100 years.

What does Portsmouth sound like today, and what might it sound like in 100 years?

Join researcher Moxie for a creative vocal workshop exploring the city's past, present and future through its archives. Using historic photographs, maps and documents, you'll uncover stories of the people and places that have shaped Portsmouth before reflecting on your own memories and imagining the city's future through sound.

Together, participants will experiment with voice, conversation and creative listening to create new ways of connecting with Portsmouth's history. No musical experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to take part.

Hosted as part of Portsmouth 100, a citywide celebration marking Portsmouth's centenary, this workshop explores how archives can be brought to life through creativity, collaboration and collective memory. Come along and add your voice to Portsmouth's future.

This workshop is free to attend, but places are limited and advance booking is essential. Recommended age 18+.
