AI is becoming more capable and harder to control, and the 'AI Control Gap' is growing.

Artificial intelligence is developing at an extraordinary pace. Today's AI systems can do far more than answer questions or generate text. They can use software, write and run code, make decisions, and complete increasingly complex tasks with limited human input.

As AI becomes more capable, an important question emerges: can humans still effectively oversee and control these systems?

In this thought-provoking public lecture, we'll explore the idea of the AI control gap: the growing difference between what AI can do and our ability to effectively monitor, manage and control its actions. Through real-world examples, we'll explore why this issue matters not only to researchers and technology companies, but to anyone who uses AI tools at work, at home, or in everyday life.

The lecture will also examine practical solutions. How can we develop AI that remains safe, trustworthy and accountable? And how can humans and AI work together in ways that enhance, rather than replace, human judgement and responsibility?

Whether you're curious about AI, concerned about its future impact, or simply want to understand one of the most important technologies shaping our world, this event will provide an accessible introduction to a rapidly evolving challenge.
