Part of Aspex's Communal programme, take part in a free creative workshop exploring blind drawing
What if closing your eyes could help you see yourself differently?
In this participatory drawing experience, artist Anastasiia Nekypila explores what it means to see and be seen through the act of closing our eyes and creating art. Blind drawing is an essential part of Anastasiia’s artistic practice. By temporarily giving up visual control, the hand can move before the conscious mind decides what an image should become. The line becomes a way of sensing rather than simply representing: a trace of movement, attention, uncertainty and feeling.
Participants will explore this space of not-knowing, before allowing individual drawings to become shared as they respond to and continue one another’s lines. Through this process, we’ll explore trust, connection and what it means to see and be seen, by ourselves, by one another and as part of a collective.
How to book
This workshop is for young people and adults, and is free to attend. Places are limited to 10 participants and advance booking is essential.
