An entertaining and interactive evening of Ramsgate history and heritage trivia. to finally find out what our Royal Harbour has done for us.
On Thursday, 29th October, join the Ramsgate Royal Heritage Harbour Group’s portfolio manager, Denise Blunn and her guests for an entertaining and enlightening evening of Ramsgate history and heritage trivia essentials. And, eventually, find out what Ramsgate’s Royal Heritage Harbour has ever done for us, and indeed what it might do in the future…
Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour is only one of fourteen locations across the United Kingdom to have been awarded Heritage Harbour status and become a member of UK Heritage Harbours. This is a joint initiative between local groups and Historic England under the governance of the Maritime Heritage Trust. Its aims include: protecting heritage assets at risk; attracting investment and heritage funding, supporting local business growth; increasing tourism; and improving community cohesion.
Chaired by the Ramsgate Society, the Ramsgate Royal Heritage Harbour Group was established in March 2024 to achieve Heritage Harbour status for the Royal Harbour. Since receiving this important designation in July 2024, the group has been the forum for local organisations to celebrate and promote Ramsgate and its Royal Harbour through heritage powered projects and initiatives.
Denise Blunn has been facilitating the Ramsgate Royal Heritage Harbour Group’s activities since March 2024. Prior to this, in 2023 she led the 23for23 Leading Ramsgate Women project. In 2025 as part of the Dunkirk Little Ships Return to Dunkirk events programme, she coordinated the Children’s Little Ships art project involving almost 400 children from six Ramsgate primary schools and organised and hosted The Little Ships Film Festival at The Granville Theatre.
