The conference will discuss scientific and archaeological collaborations on ancient metals from across the UK heritage sector.

REMADE (Roman and Early Medieval Alloys Defined) is developing a new chemical and archaeological framework for copper-alloy research across the British 1st millennium AD. Talks will include new research developed with its sixteen collaborator organisations, alongside several papers from invited experts.

The event will bring together specialists working within universities, archaeological businesses, museums, trusts, and government. The day will conclude with a keynote talk by Professor Carl Heron, Head of Scientific Research, British Museum.

This event is hosted by the Department of Archaeology, University of Reading, and the REMADE project (supported by a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, Peter Bray).
