Join us for a wild and wonderful walk on West Wickham Common led by mycologist Jane McLauchlin to identify different types of fungi

This fungi foray will introduce you to the wonderful world of fungi led by Jane McLauchlin. The walk will help you recognise some common species and maybe a few rarer ones too. Jane will also explain the important roles that fungi play in our local ecosystems.

This walk will be led at a leisurely pace to allow us to discover a wider variety of fungi across the woodlands on West Wickham Common. The walk will last approximately one and a half hours with some time to review our finds from the foray.

Please note: This is not a foraging walk. We won’t be picking or collecting any fungi for eating or personal use. Instead, we’ll be exploring the nature reserve and taking time to spot, learn about and appreciate the incredible variety, shapes and colours of fungi growing here.

Things to know:

Please wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for changing weather!

Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a lead during the walk.

There is parking available on Gates Green Road.

Families and children welcome.

£3 per person - your ticket will help towards the management and conservation of West Wickham Common.

We cannot refund tickets for this event however if there is a need to cancel due to high winds etc we will try to move to another date.
