Best-selling folk-horror author Lucy Rose for a dive into the 'weird girl fiction' genre and explore your inner strangeness!

This workshop will take place via Zoom.

Someone strange this way comes …

Join best-selling folk-horror author Lucy Rose (The Lamb) for a dive into ‘weird girl fiction’. Relatively new and wildly popular, this genre explores female rage, obsession, and subversive behaviour through the perspective of gloriously unsavoury female characters.

In this session of exploration, discussion, and writing activity, you’ll get to know the ins and outs of the genre and discover if your inner strangeness could lead your writing towards the subversive and surreal. Do you dare find out?

Lucy Rose is a Sunday Times bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker with an interest in gothic, girlhood, horror, and literary fiction. Lucy’s debut novel, THE LAMB (W&N Books, UK) was selected for Foyles Book of the Month, named best debut novel of 2025 by Cosmopolitan and Spotify, chosen for Dakota Johnson’s Tea Time Book Club, and awarded Netgalley’s Literary Fiction Novel of the Year 2025.
