On August 16th, 2026, at Spirals in Sheffield, Joanna Rucklidge will host a workshop on Gelli plate printing. Participants can expect to explore creative techniques and create their own unique monoprints, all for £49.00.
Discover the many creative possibilities of Gelli Plate printing and learn how to produce unique, one-of-a-kind monoprints.
Gelli Plates are durable, reusable, flexible printing plates that make it easy to build up layers of colour, texture, and pattern without the need for a printing press. Throughout the workshop, you'll experiment with adding and removing ink from the plate using found objects, textures, stencils, and a variety of mark-making techniques. As you explore the process, you'll gain a practical understanding of the creative potential of simple printmaking methods and materials. Using water-based inks, Gelli printing is convenient, accessible, and quick to clean up, making it an ideal introduction to printmaking.
By the end of the session, you will have created a collection of highly original monoprints to take home, along with the confidence and knowledge to continue experimenting with the technique.
This workshop is an introduction to the magical world of Gelli printing and is aimed at adults aged 18+ of all abilities. No experience necessary.
All materials and equipment provided. Tea, coffee and biscuits included.
