Bring a piece of ready prepped furniture- chalk painted with a couple of coats and spend a relaxing morning painting a design on it!

Spend a morning relaxing and painting a beautiful unique design on a small piece of furniture. You can take inspiration from a collectable, a film, plants , a fabric design, anything really! The examples here were commissioned based on the Sanderson dandelion clocks fabric and a collection of Poole pottery.

You will need to do some prep beforehand to think about what you'd like to be inspired by and perhaps do some rough sketching and jotting down of ideas. If you need a lot of help you will need to liaise with me beforehand as on the day we will need to spend most of the time painting!

If you don't know how to prep your piece with chalk paint, we can arrange a separate time to help you to do the work, for a small fee, but you will need to give two weeks notice before the decorating workshop, and probably need to come over in the evening at a mututally convenient time. Or I can send instructions about what you need to do.

When your design is complete if you wish you can come to a separate workshop to wax or varnish your piece, or I can give you instructions about what you can do to protect your art furniture for posterity!

This workshop is suitable for everyone but please note it is solely for painting the design, not for the earlier prep! It's a great way to upcycle old furniture- chalk paint can be used on wood, MDF and fibreboard etc so your old Billy bookcases or a side table you rescued from the side of the road are all game for a makeover. Shelves etc might look good with added wallpaper or wrapping paper used to enhance the back of them and you can take inspiration from the colours and designs on the paper. (glue and varnish the paper after you have finished painting!)

Young people can really enjoy creating something special for their room so perhaps this might be a good activity to share with a teenager! Under 18s need an adult booked on to attend as well.

So yes, prep is required- but you will end up with something fantastic!
