Tour the National Crystallography Service (NCS) X-ray diffractometers!
The University of Southampton is home to the National Crystallography Service, which owns four extremely high powered single crystal X-ray diffractometers. Come and find out how researchers at Southampton use X-rays to study the atomic structure of crystals. You will see a crystal mounted onto the instruments, the data collected and the structure solved in real time. Our crystallographer will explain more about the diffraction experiments, discuss what kind of information these types of studies can provide researchers around the UK and give some context about what practical information these studies can be used for.
