AI Mode conversation: modern woman bandmodern woman bandModern Woman is a London-based art-rock and post-punk outfit fronted by primary songwriter and vocalist Sophie Harris. The group originally started out as a solo project for Harris's spoken-word performances before evolving into a full four-piece band.

The band is best known for blending post-punk, avant-garde, and '60s folk traditions, creating a dynamic sound that thrives on friction—contrasting soft folk lyricism with harsh, discordant noise. Critics have compared Harris's striking, unpredictable vocal delivery to legendary artists like Siouxsie Sioux, Kate Bush, and Patti Smith. \[1\] (https://www.progressiveartists.co.uk/modern-woman), \[2\] (https://www.ica.art/live/modern-woman), \[3\] (https://www.greenman.net/line-up/modern-woman/), \[4\] (https://modernwoman.band/about), \[5\] (https://undertheradarmag.com/reviews/johnnysdreamworldmodernwoman)In May 2026, Modern Woman released their highly anticipated debut studio album, Johnny's Dreamworld, through One Little Independent Records (the long-time independent home of artists like Björk).
