Building a career in music can be exciting, but it can also be messy.

There’s always something else you could be doing — writing, rehearsing, posting content, booking gigs, networking, releasing music, earning money, practising, planning the next move.

The problem is, when everything feels important, it becomes difficult to know what actually deserves your attention.

The Music Business Mindset is a practical, interactive workshop designed to help independent musicians take a proper look at where they are, where they want to go, what’s getting in the way, and how to move forward in a way that actually works for them.

This isn’t a two-hour lecture about everything you “should” be doing as a musician.

The session is designed to be interactive, reflective and practical. You’ll be working through your own career, discussing ideas with other musicians, and building something that you can actually take away and use.

We’ll work through six areas:

1. Career Check-In

Take stock of where you are right now. What’s working? What isn’t? What needs more attention?

2. Define Your Goals

Work out what you’re actually trying to achieve and what matters most to you right now.

3. Find the Bottleneck

Identify the biggest thing currently getting in the way of your progress.

4. Build Your System

Create a realistic structure that helps you make progress without relying on motivation alone.

5. Make It Sustainable

Look at your time, energy, money and workload, and ask whether the way you’re building your career is something you can actually maintain.

6. Your Next Steps

Bring everything together and leave with a clear, realistic plan for what happens next.

By the end of the workshop, the aim is that you leave with a better understanding of your own career, a clearer sense of direction, and a plan that feels achievable rather than overwhelming.

This workshop is aimed at independent artists, bands and musicians at any stage who feel stuck, overwhelmed, unsure what to prioritise, or simply want to take a more intentional approach to building their career.
