Lee Ashcroft

Moody beats and theremin for a post-lockdown hellscape. Depending on who you ask, Lee Ashcroft is either a musician, writer, social care worker, artist, theremin player, autistic man, internet radio host, 2-time loser of BBC’s Pointless, or 1-time member of The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu. He lives with his partner in North Essex, UK.

Among other pseudonyms too numerous and irrelevant to mention, Lee has previously recorded and performed as 00’s bootleg/mashup provocateur/nuisance Mixomatosis, recording for egalitarian netlabel Digital Vomit, Austrian experimental label Hirntrust Grind Media, and Stockport’s legendary V/Vm Test Records, while lip-syncing aggressively to audiences across the East and South East of England throughout the decade.

He also recorded and performed as The Nearly, releasing 2011’s ‘Cathode Rave’ for El Perro Rojo Records, a 9-minute album which, depending on which zines you read, either represents “the future of pop music” or makes you “feel physically sick.” ‘Persons Underground’ is the first album he has recorded under his birth name.

As well as performing music, Lee currently writes for American online publication In Spite Magazine and hosts a 4-weekly radio show for French internet station CAMP Radio, both under the name One Man Underground.

Now living in Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex he continues to write songs, poetry, prose & experiment with art & video

Michael Plater

Michael Plater is an Australian experimental/indie/folk/noir musician, who currently divides his time between Australia and the U.K. He has played all over the world, including performances at such festivals as Dark Mofo (Tasmania) and Leigh Folk Festival (England), and he has toured extensively throughout Europe. His music has been released on such U.K. labels as Cruel Nature Records, Reverb Worship, Fenny Compton, Woodford Halse, Dub Cthonic, and Hypostatic Union. His 2023 album, "Ghost Music", was highly acclaimed, and was voted as the 4th best album of the year in U.K. music publication Sun 13. He also plays in the “Greek psych folk” collective The Taps of the Holy Trinity (who recently released their lauded debut album “Customs & Rituals” on Fenny Compton), the Greek/Italian/Australian collaboration The Right Hand Is Doomed to Blacken, and the “horror soundscapes” project The Northern Lighthouse Board. “Like a way more ritualistic and psychedelic take on his countrymen Nick Cave or Go-Betweens…brilliant.” (Two Foot Left Radio, Sheffield, U.K)

Plantman

Matt Randall, accompanied by a close knit family of fellow Essex based musicians, has been releasing albums as Plantman since around 2010. This is pop at its most beautiful and melancholic. "If the Velvet Underground were from the Home Counties and had never heard of heroin, they might sound something like this" (The Guardian)

Tim Williams

Tim Williams is an acclaimed veteran of the Australian music scene, having been the principal songwriter and front person for Death Valley PTA, Colourwheel, Goldentone, The Low-Fi Cowboys, Tender Fall, and now The Endless Winter. His work is an enticing blend of melodic guitar pop with a nod towards alternative country and indie-folk. Music critics suggest he performs “heartfelt songs that deal with emotional loss, broken relationships and yearning”. He creates “a mood that is sensitive, intense and graceful”. Tim has played at major music festivals including The Big Day Out, The Adelaide Fringe, and The Harvest Festival and has supported such legendary acts as Bjork, The Stone Roses, The Go-Betweens, The Church, Ed Kuepper, and Robert Forster over the course of his career. The debut album from “Tim Williams and the Endless Winter”, Dark Sky Reserve, is out now.
