Yoga with Finlay Hinde
The discipline of Hatha Yoga aims at the release of tensions and stress in the body through coordinated flow, and through the physical approach of its postures called asanas. The distinctive method of classical Hatha is the way asanas are performed, slowly and mindfully. The mind is helped to create a “feel” for the body through the intuitive performance of the asanas.
We will occupy a full spectrum of energies from gross to subtle, effort to relaxation. The body responds by becoming stronger and more flexible, releasing the resistance established by the lack of practice and old habits.
A closer relationship is then created between body and mind, and one begins to perceive a fresh sense of well being. If the practice of this ancient knowledge is maintained with regularity, soon a new state of health will be experienced and enjoyed. Hatha Yoga classes draw on many styles of Yoga including Classical Hatha, Hatha Flow, Kundalini, Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga.
The yoga at Gorhambury on this wellness day will be intended for people who already have some Yoga experience, however if you are a beginner, you are very welcome to join us for the day, please just let us know beforehand and we can tailor the class to suit all our guests.
Sound Bath with Laura Hinde
Come and rest in the beautiful surroundings of Gorhambury House for a sound bath with Laura.
We’ll begin with some simple movement to help you arrive in your body and become more present.
Then, lying down and making yourself comfortable, you’ll be invited to settle into the sounds and give yourself time to pause.
The symphonic gong will be at the heart of the session. Its wide range of tones shifts and changes, from deep, resonant sounds to lighter, shimmering overtones. The sounds fill the space and can offer a rich focus for listening, helping you feel more embodied, relaxed and open to a sense of expansion.
Chimes, bells and the rain disk will weave around the gong, adding delicate, sparkling and flowing textures. There’s nothing you need to do or achieve: simply an opportunity to rest, listen and experience the sounds.
A beautiful place to pause, relax and make space for yourself.
Yoga is practised at your own discretion and within your own limits. Is there anything you would like the teacher(s) to know in advance to support your safety and wellbeing during the class?
Are you currently pregnant, or returning to movement after injury, surgery, or illness? If you have answered yes to any of the above, please let us know prior to the event, by emailing us at admin@grimstontrust.co.uk.
Equipment: We will provide mats, but please bring extra if you would like greater comfort. You are practising on a stone floor. You may wish to bring a pillow and sleep mask for the Sound Bath - but not compulsory.
Lunch: The menu caters for Vegetarians, so please let us know if you have any additional dietary requirements by emailing admin@grimstontrust.co.uk
Arriving by car: Access from M1 (Junction 8) and M25 (Junction 21a). Please enter AL3 6AE into your GPS for the entrance at the Roman Theatre off Bluehouse Hill. Once at the gate enter AL3 6AH for the house, where there is ample parking.
